The British Gas Big Dip 2011 took place on Clapham Common, London for six weeks in the summer of 2011.
The UK’s ultimate urban swim festival featured two heated outdoor pools, a beach and an array of fun packed activities. Over 30,000 people experienced summer swimming like never before in 2011.

After a successful campaign at the World Championships in Shanghai, Rebecca Adlington and Keri-anne Payne took some time out in the sun to enjoy the British Gas Big Dip.
Rebecca Adlington won gold in the 800m freestyle and silver in the 400m freestyle. Keri-anne Payne became the first British athlete to qualify for London 2012, taking gold in the 10km open water race.

Double Olympic Gold medalist and newly crowned World Champion Rebecca Adlington has taken time out today at the British Gas Big Dip on Clapham Common with her real life ‘mini-me’, 4-year-old swimming sensation Tae Smith. Tae stunned the swimming world last month when she swam an incredible 101 lengths non-stop.

Over 20,000 young people attended the British Gas Big Dip 2011 for free! Swimmers of all abilities made a splash and over 1,300 school children learnt to swim at British Gas Pools 4 Schools sessions.

The pool sessions are booked on a first come, first serve basis so when you arrive at The British Gas Big Dip please book your session directly with the pool reception staff to avoid disappointment.
