Six weeks of swimming and summer fun for the people! Whether it’s for the nation, for fitness or just for fun, swimming is something that brings people together. At British Gas, we’re committed to looking after our customers’ worlds and bringing them together in ways that matter – like swimming.

In partnership with British Swimming, we’re supporting the sport at every level and across all six disciplines – Swimming, Disability, Synchro, Diving, Water Polo and Open Water. Now two years into a six-year commitment we’ve already achieved a great deal for the partnership. With plenty of support along the way from British Gas’ brand ambassadors, including Rebecca Adlington, Keri-anne Payne and Duncan Goodhew.

We’ve taught tens of thousands of children to swim in the British Gas Pools 4 Schools™ programme, sponsored the successful British Gas Great Swim Series, offered thousands of families free swims and, with Swimfit, have supported swimmers in achieving more in the pool. The British Gas Big Dip marks the latest way in which British Gas is inspiring a nation from paddling pool to podium with all the fun of summer.

The British Gas Big Dip will also showcase our sustainability credentials through our ‘Heat in a Box’ solution. This has been developed with Econergy, a Biomass plant room specialist and an associated company of British Gas. Using a biomass boiler package has huge potential to help our customers save up to 30% off their bills – particularly businesses who will also save on operating costs and residential customers who are not connected to the Natural Gas Grid.

Note: The cost saving (30% saving) is approx relative to oil / LPG as competitor fuels. Biomass via wood pellets is on a cost par with Natural Gas.

Event Organiser – Total Swimming

Total Swimming is revolutionising the way swimming is delivered and the company is committed to positively impacting on a million individuals through aquatics by 2012. Olympic medallist Steve Parry is behind every Total Swimming initiative, and the first product he launched as part of our aquatic pathway was Swim a Song. This uses the fun of music and rhyme to encourage parents and babies from four months to 36 months the correct skills of early development in water and floatation.

With learn to swim academies and highly innovative school swimming programmes, Total Swimming’s academies are revolutionising the teaching of over 1,000 swimmers every week across the UK.
